Level 2 award in entrant and entry controller for medium risk confined spaces.
This unit is for persons working within medium risk confined spaces or for an entry controller/top-person who arranges and controls entry to them. It covers the duties of an entry controller, pre-entry procedures, preparing to work safely, using equipment and tools safely, entry into and exit from the medium risk confined spaces, maintaining communications, and initiating and following emergency procedures.
Course overview:
Prepare to work safely in medium risk confined spaces
Enter and exit a medium risk confined space safely
Work safely and monitor the work team to en-sure procedures are followed
Deal with emergency situations
Understand the principles of working in medium risk confined spaces
Understand standard protocols for working in medium risk confined spaces
Understand entry controller duties and responsi-bilities
Understand equipment checks and inspection required
This course does not cover the use of full Breathing Apparatus.
Candidates will be assed by:
Practical Assessment, a demonstration of safe confined space entry and exit in a controlled environment.
Written Exam, short-answer questions assessing their understanding of theory and regulations.
On successful completion, learners receive:
City & Guilds Level 2 award in entrant and entry controller for medium risk confined spaces. (6160-09), valid for 3 years.
City & Guilds photo ID card.
Course Prerequisites:
Candidates must be medically fit to undertake the training and will be asked to self-certify during the induction.
Candidates must not exceed 140kg (22 stones) weight limit of the fall protection equipment used.
Basic English literacy skills for written and verbal assessments.
