Working at Height Safety Course
Our 1-day BHB certificate in working at height competancy.
This 1-day course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to work safely at height in line with current legislation and best practice, including the Work at Height Regulations 2005. It covers hazard awareness, risk assessment, hierarchy of control, and the correct selection, use, and inspection of fall protection equipment. Practical training includes harness fitting, use of lanyards and fall arrest/restraint systems, enabling delegates to identify risks and use equipment safely and effectively.

Hazard Awareness:
Causes of falls from height
Fragile surfaces and unprotected edges
Environmental factors (weather, contamination, obstructions)
Swing fall and fall clearance considerations
Fall Protection Principles:
Fall prevention, fall restraint and fall arrest systems
Collective vs personal protection
System limitations
Equipment Awareness and Use:
Harness types and components
Lanyards and energy absorbers
Fall arrest blocks (SRLs)
Connectors and anchor devices
Inspection of Equipment:
Pre-use checks including identifying damage and defects
Inspection records and traceability
Legal inspection requirements
Practical Session:
Correct fitting and adjustment of harnesses
Safe connection to anchor systems
Use of fall protection equipment and safe movement whilst attached
Course Prerequisites:
Candidates must be medically fit to undertake the training and will be asked to self-certify during the induction.
Candidates must not exceed 140kg (22 stones) weight limit of the fall protection equipment used.
Basic English literacy skills for written and verbal assessments.
This course is best held at the customer's premises.
