• Overview of the Work at Height Regulations 2005

• Employer and employee legal duties

• Hierarchy of control

• Risk assessment and method statements (RAMS)

• Relevant standards and guidance

Hazard Awareness:

• Causes of falls from height

• Fragile surfaces and unprotected edges

• Environmental factors (weather, contamination, obstructions)

• Swing fall and fall clearance considerations

Fall Protection Principles:

• Fall prevention, fall restraint and fall arrest systems

• Collective vs personal protection

• System limitations

Equipment Awareness and Use:

• Harness types and components

• Lanyards and energy absorbers

• Fall arrest blocks (SRLs)

• Connectors and anchor devices

Inspection of Equipment:

• Pre-use checks including identifying damage and defects

• Inspection records and traceability

• Legal inspection requirements

Practical Session:

• Correct fitting and adjustment of harnesses

• Safe connection to anchor systems

• Use of fall protection equipment and safe movement whilst attached

Course Prerequisites:

• Candidates must be medically fit to undertake the training and will be asked to self-certify during the induction.

• Candidates must not exceed 140kg (22 stones) weight limit of the fall protection equipment used.

• Basic English literacy skills for written and verbal assessments.
