Breathing Apparatus Familiarisation
A 1-day certifcate in the use of full-duration breathing apparatus (SCBA)
This course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to safely use and operate full duration self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). It is ideal for organisations that have purchased SCBA and require training in its correct use, limitations, and maintenance.
The course covers respiratory protection principles, pre-use checks, correct donning and doffing, cylinder management, and safe operation. It also includes awareness of confined space hazards such as oxygen deficiency and toxic atmospheres, where SCBA may be required for entry, escape, or rescue.
Practical exercises build confidence and competence, ensuring delegates can safely use, maintain, and understand when SCBA is necessary to protect life in hazardous environments.
